English is a difficult language. Here at Dissertation Editor, we have years of experience working with clients for whom English is not their first language. We know how hard you’ve worked and that writing in English – especially a thesis or dissertation – can be challenging. We offer a range of services to assist you, from coaching and consultations to research assistance, to editing and formatting help – and don’t forget data analysis and all that entails!

There are also other ways you can improve your written English. If you have found something that worked for you, we’d love to get your feedback and tips to share with others! In the meantime, check these out:

Practice your English writing every day. This seems obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people – even those for whom English is their first language – do not take to heart that consistent practice leads to progress. If you have trouble remembering, try writing it in your planner or calendar. Schedule it in so that you are obligated to do it.

Keep resources nearby. This can include an English dictionary, a thesaurus, and any grammar books that you’ve found helpful. A pocket English dictionary can be especially helpful to carry with you all the time – when you hear a new word, look it up, say it a few times, and write it down in a notebook. Learn synonyms and antonyms. As you learn new words, try to find ways to incorporate these words into your writing.

Read English-language books or magazines out loud. Both reading and writing help you become a better writer. Reading them out loud will help you even more – you’ll get a feel for syntax and rhythm, style, tone, and more. As with reading in general, make a note of anything you have a question about or don’t understand, as well as any words that are new to you. Come back to those later to learn more about them.

Seek outside assistance. If you have a Writing Center at your school, don’t be afraid of it. They can provide guidance and help with writing, they often offer tutoring services or workshops on writing, and much more. Hiring a professional editor like Dissertation Editor can also be immensely helpful. We offer much more than just thesis or dissertation editing – we can help you through consultations, where we help you develop a writing plan, answer any questions you may have about your writing, suggest ways to improve your writing, and more.

Here at Dissertation Editor, our commitment to you is unwavering. We know how hard you’ve worked to get to this point, and we can help you achieve your goals. We are there every step of the way, working with you. Contact us today to learn more about the range of services we offer and how we can best assist you with your goals.

Dissertation Editor did a fantastic job proofreading and revising my dissertation. I was especially impressed with the formatting corrections to my tables. My university’s library approved my dissertation for publication with minimal corrections needed!
